how to: zero waste oranges

Updated: Mar 3, 2022

hii fam,

oranges! let's chat all of my favorite ways to use oranges and how to eliminate waste from the peels.

because what the heck do we do with all of those peels?

so... here are 4 ways to use the orange peels!

  1. compost: throw them in your compost bin or pile! there's no shame if this is your first option when it comes to food waste. you're giving back to the earth!

  2. tea: add your peels to a saucepan and allow it to simmer with cinnamon sticks, and clove buds for a sweet smelling home!

  3. cleaner: place the peels from one orange in a quart sized jar and fill to the top with distilled vinegar. let it sit for 1 week and add to a spray bottle. or add a few tablespoons of the solution into thieves household cleaner! shop here: (https://www.youngliving.com/us/en/referral/28649753)

  4. dehydrate for tea: thinly slice the peels into 1/4 inch slices and bake at 175* for 24 hours. once done, store in a cool, dry place until you are ready to use. to make tea: steep a tablespoon of orange peels in a couple cups of water-- boom!! instant immune supporting tea!

hope you enjoyed these simple ways to use your orange peels-- tag @karrryam on instagram if you try!
